More of a fudgitarian, methinks? ~

Author/comedian Rhonda Rhea (In a Facebook post)

Rhonda, Rhonda, Rhonda. Girl, you make me (Dawn) LOL so hard!

Some choices are “no-brainers,” aren’t they?

I mean, this should be obvious, shouldn’t it?

Well … that depends. If you are into “eating healthy,” the no-brainer choice is the salad.  But if you are into spontaneous fun and sweet delights, chocolate is your choice every time.

How like life. Our choices tend to fall in line with our point of view.

I could go on and on about a worldly vs. a Christian worldview. I could talk about the effects of one’s background on point of view. I could even make this political. But I just have one quick question to ask today.

Where’s your heart?

Luke 12:34 says, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” The context of this verse is that we can depend on God for our needs; we don’t have to worry about “things.” But I’ve also discovered that the things we invest in ~ financially, socially, physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually ~ become the “treasures” of our lives, and they tend to dictate the passions of our heart. And those passions set the stage for our choices.

Salad vs. chocolate brownies is pretty trivial compared to some of the choices we’ll make in our lifetimes.

It’s crucial that we have our hearts in the right place. Because I believe Jesus will return and I will give an account of my life, I want to invest in the things of God ~ eternal things ~ as much as possible. Perspective and priorities are important!

A comment following Rhonda’s post suggested a little compromise:  “How about chocolate sprinkles and olive oil for the salad?”

The tendency to compromise is huge these days. (What happened to integrity?) But we have to watch out for compromise. A Bible professor once reminded me of a well-known but anonymous quote: “Never put a question mark where God puts a period.”

Girlfriend, I hope your heart is in the right place … and I pray that you will make some great no-brainer choices for the Kingdom today!
